The Mission of Universidad del Desarrollo is to be of service to Chile by forming professionals and creating knowledge that is useful and helpful to the country, in line with its needs and the challenges of the 21st century. To do this, the University is deploying all of its academic efforts in close collaboration with the public and private sectors and is promoting the values of freedom, diversity and a concern for public issues.

Universidad del Desarrollo will become one of the best in Chile, known for its ongoing search for academic innovation and for being an active part of Chilean and global society because it works together with national and international actors to address challenges from a global perspective to thus shape the people who will lead the development of our country and to conceive knowledge that is of impact and creates value.

The conviction that countries and society develop when people are free and the State is at the service of people imposes a challenge and is a key motivation in the project of Universidad del Desarrollo. The development of, and an appreciation for, the freedom of people and a recognition of the principle of subsidiarity are seen in the academic and formative work of the University.

This principle represents the University’s spirit.
