The university was founded in the city of Concepción in late 1989. During that time, a group of professionals with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors decided to embark on the venture of creating a top-level academic institution.
It was in this city that Universidad del Desarrollo was born, which now hosts three campuses: Ainavillo, Pedro de Valdivia, and the Ernesto Silva B. Clinic.
